What is Marble Countertop Polishing?

This process includes cleaning, repairing, and polishing vertical marble to achieve a glossy finish that highlights the stone’s natural beauty and ensures its durability. We have in house vertical marble polishers who are specialists for all kinds of vertical and horizontal marble installations. The polishing work is done with a smaller hand machine as compared to the 17-inch floor machine and hence, is suitable for floor skirtings, bathrooms, corners, walls, staircase, countertops, balcony top, and tabletops.

In this process, we sometimes use Emery sandpaper which is a coarse sandpaper made from emery, a hard abrasive mineral. These come in varios abrasion levels and help in heavy sanding and stripping marble surface to smoothening and finishing with higher no. of sandpaper. We also use diamond pads for marble surfaces and polish and buff to produce mirror like finish.

We also provide grinding, honing and polishing of mouldings, specifically half-round moulding and full-round mouldings. We also make and polish V-groove moulding often found on marble walls, tabletops and countertops with the help of sandpaper and hand polishing machine. W have worked with various architects and intertior designers in the past to provide such services for all kinds of residential clients.

Most common found marble vertical installations in a house is floor skirting areas which can only be restored using a hand machine. The appearance will be quite odd if the floor gets polished and skirtings are dull. Once we have completely restored your marble floor with Epoxy resin system, the floor will return to its natural state with all cracks and pored filled and can last you for years. We use high quality Italian Akemi products which make rigid bonding with the surface. They also dry quickly and offer good consistency in terms of application.

There are two types of fillers – epoxy based and polyester based and both are used depending on the site. Polyester based filler is used for quick setting repairs and mostly used whereas epoxy based fillers are suited for durable, structural repairs.

Yes, with DustBusters diamond polishing, 99% of the stains of Harpric, acid, tea, coffee, wooden polish, oil etc. will be removed through grinding of the floor.

For epoxy we use Akepox 1005 which comes in two parts – epoxy resin for bonding and hardener to strengthen the bond with the marble floor. For repairing we use polyester based made-in-Italy Akemi Fillers which are recommended for Italian marble floors and are suitable for all kinds of natural stone, Granite, Terrazzo, Limestone and even wooden. For polishing, we use Partek Starr made-in-Italy powder polish to provide the overall gloss. Along with that, we use Diversey Terranova Liquid Crystallizer chemical which is a marble floor shiner. The chemical does not damage the delicate marble surface and combined with high speed mechanical process of Partek Sumo machine, the overall shine improves and appears cleaner.

Absolutely not. Our team of experts will ensure that no mess is created in the process of floor polishing. The floor is cleaned first and all the dirty water is removed using a vacuum cleaner. Then Terranova spray is put on the surface and buffed to finish with high shine.

Floor Polishing is most suited for Indian and Italian marble floor as they have high shine properties but it can also be applicable to other stone floors like granite and kota floors.

DustBusters Marble Floor Polishing with Epoxy Process

1.

Grind the surface evenly to remove deep scratches and stains with Diamond pad nos 100, 200 and 400 and Emery paper.

2.

Fill any kind of little and deep cracks with sufficient Crack filling compound.

3.

Hone the surface with Diamond pad Nos. 800 and 1500 to smoothen the surface and prepare for polish.

4.

Apply the Italian powder polish Partek Starr on the floor with water and floor pad till the polish is completely absorbed.

5.

Buff the floor using steel wool floor pad attached to the scrubbing machine and liquid gloss enhancer.

6.

Wipe off any excess buffing compound from the surface with a clean cloth.
